The staff at San Antonio Periodontics and Implants are dental specialists in periodontal disease and the placement of dental implants. So, what exactly is a dental specialist? We differ from your general dentist primarily in our level of specialized training. While your general dentist may technically be capable of performing some of the surgeries that we perform here, Dr. Maller and Dr. Stalker have completed an additional 3-year residency program in the periodontics branch of dentistry. This residency program is in addition to dental school, which is typically the extent of most general dentists’ training. By coming to a dental specialist like us, you can ensure that you are in the most capable hands for your particular procedure.
Both Dr. Maller and Dr. Stalker are also Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology - Board Certified.
What We Do
What exactly is periodontal disease? Periodontal disease affects the structures that support your teeth: your gums. This condition usually begins as gingivitis, but if left untreated, it can progress into more advanced periodontal disease, eventually causing tooth loss. To combat this issue, Dr. Maller and Dr. Stalker have devoted themselves to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases.
